My Covid-19 Guidelines For Small Businesses
Lead By Example
Hi, rather than perpetually moan and groan everytime I read an article about the impact of Covid-19 on businesses, in particular small hospitality services, I wanted to share my thoughts in the format of some clear bullet points, a mixture of gentle advice and strong recommendations. However much I wish the chaos would all go away, the new reality for us requires forward thinking optimism and criticism, in equal measure. The largest restaurant chains in the world such as McDonald’s, who don’t seem content with their existing Covid-19 safe…drive through are planning to re-open. I can understand it’s extra work and consideration on top stresses for small businesses, but please, don’t let McDonald’s be the only food outlet open for business due to the fact they published some flimsy Covid-19 measures. You can do better!
Certification.
I guess, in the near future, new Health And Safety rules will apply to your business and staff. Better go look them up now, create a Google Alert (Covid-19 Health And Safety) and add your specific location, e.g. in the UK see: https://www.hse.gov.uk/news/coronavirus.html
Reconsider existing Health And Safety certifications and the process of gaining them. Did you or your colleagues take a test? What was it like, how might Covid-19 change questions and answers in 2020 and beyond. See the new Remote Auditing from Britsafe here: https://www.britsafe.org/audit-and-consultancy/new-remote-audits-and-consultancy/
Perhaps go further and begin to formulate your own certification, alone or better yet as a team. Explore ways in which you can improve the efficiency, communication and protection of your business in the new Covid-19 world. If you can prove your methods and processes as a team, raise each others Covid awareness, and if you can record your progress to provide evidence of your actions, you can lead by example. #CoronaHero
This could potentially make your business more attractive to customers and get you in-line for support…due to leading the field, doing what the government is not. Thinking for yourself. To be clear, these are extra measures on top of whatever current measures are in place.Measures.
I consider the practical measures as a finite list and I sincerely hope that innovative minds out there will think of alternative materials and methods to further reduce any chance of infection. Please consider.
Protective Screens – At the point of purchase, materials, designs, microphone?Floor Markings – Set to the advised spacing apart, simple.
Protective Masks – All staff and management wear masks (medical, non-medical grade?)
Protective Gloves – All staff equipped with ample supply of gloves and instructed on procedures for use, frequency of change etc.
Ventilation – All ventilation systems are operating to ensure clean flow of air (Kitchens)
Public Information – Certificates and public info on view to make customers feel secure.
Delivery And Service Providers – Share the same Covid measures and certifications?
Updated Cleaning Schedule – Based on new methods, frequency, cleaning agents.
Team Building – A series of actions to encourage open feedback between teammates, a forum, Whats App group, Zoom etc.
Insurance – What can small businesses learn from the super giants, what changes?
Test Trace Isolate / Flatten The Curve – Are your team and customers aware of larger goals? If not, why not?
Solidarity – It is critical that governments and businesses move in tandem to ensure staff who may feel sick say so immediately. Same for those who have contact with Covid-19 cases?
Emergency Procedure – What happens if X Y Z? Protocol and plans for the future.
This Q & A on Food Safety and Covid 19, by the European Commission is informative. https://ec.europa.eu/food/sites/food/files/safety/docs/biosafety_crisis_covid19_qandas_en.pdf
Good luck out there. I hope to produce other such guidelines on other areas of impact this month. Much love,

The Mother Of The Mother Of Tobacco Is A Snake
A research study conducted in France has found that inpatients and outpatients who smoke tobacco are 80 and 75 % less likely to develop symptomatic and severe Covid-19 infections. My instincts tell me these findings are worthy of investigation, new consideration. Their methodology and experimental conditions are detailed and published HERE.
To embolden the general idea I ask… what can we scrutinize about this study? How do we make their findings more robust and further expand the study, cross-examine other such studies? My hunch starts with research conducted by Jeremy Narby and published in his book The Cosmic Serpent
Below I’ve included screenshots of these two sources, together forming a balanced picture (a roughly left-brain and right-brain stereo mix) of what I have previously mused upon: indigenous shamanic practice using Ayahuasca and Tabacco and its role in our fight, as a interconnected global species, with novel airborne Coronaviruses.
I’d like to encourage you to refocus (defocus using stereoscopic thinking) on the recent rigorous scientific study on Tobacco / Nicotine and Covid-19.
Please let me know if you have any feedback in the comments.
Much love, steve fly.

Warriors Of The Rainbow 2020: A Trip Back To Novelty Wave
A Little Introduction (approx. 7 min. read)
Hi, the following essay sprawled out of control into a what I now call a woo-woo piece. A densely packed linked up trans-media story, riddled with facts, methodology and research based thinking, yet considering epoch sized, call em’ cosmic-ramifications, or woo-woo. I’d like to thank everybody who crossed my path along the way and above all to wish readers a strong, resilient and joyous 2020 as we shuffle toward the lights. After a number of perceived synchronicities recently, charged by the universal sense of existential dread flowing through the species at the moment, I’m reflecting on 44 days that impacted my life in 2012 and what I can learn in 2020. If you get tired of my tales you can skip to video and music links.
My story begins around 1996, when I was living in Stourbridge UK and experimenting with psychedelic drugs and trip poets. I discovered two authors simultaneously, thanks to close friends, that had a deep and lasting impact on my life: Terence McKenna and Robert Anton Wilson. When I discovered the chapter, Law Of Acceleration, in Wilson’s popular work of non-fiction Cosmic Trigger (1977) and his inclusion of McKenna’s Timewave-Zero theory, the penny dropped, or my voice dropped, something dropped. Wilson’s model of information doubling and onward to distinguishing exponential growth, including McKenna’s model and his love for entheogens and magic mushrooms was precisely what I needed to hear. Since then, I’ve followed the 2012 stuff and chimed in now and then with my 5c contribution to what I think it all means. As I said, woo-woo, to mean BIG ideas about complex processes and esoteric knowledge, a bit like criticism of Finnegans Wake by James Joyce. These were the wild and out-there things this young apprentice shaman pined for. Indeed, these are the conditions that led me to adopt the artist name: Fly Agaric 23 around 1995.
To give at least some idea of what I had read at this point in my life, yet not necessarily understood correctly! I’ll list a few titles: Food Of The Gods, True Hallucinations, The Invisible Landscape by McKenna, Cosmic Trigger I, II and III, Sex Drugs And Magick, Quantum Psychology by Wilson.777 and The Book Of Thoth by Aleister Crowley, The Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Narby, I-Ching And The Genetic Code by Martin Schonberger, plus dipping my toe into Graham Hancock, Robert Bauval and even a taste of David Icke (spits over shoulder, ugh). During this time (1996-2000) I was drumming, learning to DJ with Jungle/Drum and Bass, Hip Hop, Trip Hop music, plus discovering the diverse UK underground cultural melting pot, leading to collaborating on nights and events locally.
Jump forward 16 years, after living in America for five years, attending McKenna’s Wake in San Francisco, interviewing Wilson and contributing to his biographical film: Maybe Logic, and helping to found The Maybe Logic Academy (see MaybeLogic Quarterly). I was working at the 420 Coffeeshop, Amsterdam, collaborating closely with poet John Sinclair. It’s the 19th of November, the 25th High Times Cannabis Cup is opening.
John Sinclair And His Amsterdam Blues Scholars At The Cannabis Cup
As an unofficial, satellite performance, celebrating cannabis and hemp culture during the High Times Cup, John Sinclair And His Amsterdam Blues Scholars performed at Club Aknaton on November 19th, 2012. John Sinclair, Leslie Lopez, Esther Croez, Mark Ritsema, Vicente Pino, Rebbecca Waller and myself played two sets of reefer jazz, one with Sinclair front and center.
During the show, Steven Hager (of High Times) and Fantuzzi (Of The Fantuzzi Band) turned up, danced and fluffed-up the aura of the party. At the end, Hager stepped on stage and invited the band to join his Temple Dragon Band: the official High Times 2012 house band. Half the band accepted his offer. Rebbecca, Esther and I joined up for a week of creativity, chaos and a wild path to the Kukulkan pyramid, four weeks later.
At some point late in the week Fantuzzi asked me if I wanted to join him, to play drums at Synthesis 2012, taking place in Chichen Itza. It didn’t take me long to decide. One song I played with both The Temple Dragon Band and with Fantuzzi is called Warriors Of The Rainbow, and is his interpretation in song format, of the Hopi Prophecy.

My Dudley Newsquest For Numbers Concerning Russells Hall Hospital
Dudley Muddley Pudding And Lies?
How many? What are the numbers? What are the existing numbers, approx. I’d personally like to hear less soundbites and see the numbers backing claims. Too much to ask? There’s seems disagreement on how prepared Russells Hall hospital is to cope with Covid-19. (Or what the word “sufficient actually means…numbers?)
Some (as yet unnamed) are claiming they do NOT have sufficient PPE. And Dudley Labour Councillors (and unknown others) are calling for residents to sign a petition demanding more PPE equipment in Dudley. However, Diane Wake chief exec of the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust and a nurse (thank you for your care) has said, on the contrary, that they (Russells Hall Staff) have all the equipment they need. “The reports on social media are incorrect and causing unnecessary worry and concern.” she said.f masks, gowns and goggles at present (in stock) and on order (rate at which they are delivered). And what is your estimation of new patients, based on what analysis? Can we please see some numbers.
https://www.dudleynews.co.uk/news/18370407.dudley-hospitals-sufficient-supplies-personal-protective-equipment/
I digress, but have a duty to point out that Dudley News, in typical Newsquest Gannet Media style, regurgitate what they are told to and suck it down like the mouth-to-mouth feeding animals at Dudley zoo. Never stopping to engage the reader with thinking. Asking questions, sourcing information, calling to see some numbers and get closer to facts and truth.
https://www.expressandstar.com/news/health/coronavirus-covid19/2020/04/10/dudleys-labour-councillors-call-for-more-ppe-in-borough/
For context, here’s an article from January 2020, before Covid-19, about patients being treated in corridors due to lack of beds at Russells Hall Hospital. Was that all dealt with in a quick month Diane?
https://www.expressandstar.com/news/health/2020/01/22/patients-being-treated-in-corridors-at-russells-hall-hospital/
Here’s the text from Dudley Labour Group, and the Petition, in FULL:
The Labour Group in Dudley is very concerned about the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for our community health care workers across our Borough.
We are concerned for both carers in Nursing and Residential Care homes and we are also concerned for the informal carers across the Borough who provide a vital, caring role for family members and vulnerable neighbours.
These vital workers need regular and consistent supply of PPE and the Council need to assure the caring community that this will be provided.
To date the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is:
1. Not consistent with WHO guidance
2. The supply is not consistent and regular
3.There is no provision for informal carers, which is increasing the demand on our overstretched workforce
4. Putting the lives of these workers at riskAs recommended by WHO and Public Health England for the management of COVID-19, we believe that there should be an adequate and consistent supply of:
– Fluid repellent disposable gowns – EN13795
– Nitrile non-sterile gloves – EN 374
– Plastic aprons – category 1
– Eyewear and face protection – EN166
– FFP2 and FFP3 masks – EN 149
– IIR Surgical masks – EN14683Carers in Dudley feel inadequately protected and vulnerable to infection; they cannot understand why the required PPE is not being supplied in the quantities needed. Anyone in Dudley caring for a relative or in a caring role should be able to access this vital equipment.
The Council has had to resort to a request for donations from local businesses for PPE. While any donations will be welcome, they might not provide the best standard our workers and volunteers deserve. Coupled with this some staff have resorted to making their own PPE.
Workers feel unable to carry out their job properly and protect themselves and their patients.
The most common form of transmission of the virus is through contact and we know the virus is carried on clothing; this is why this so important. We do not want to lose vital key workers in this pandemic!
Dudley Labour Group urges the Government to guarantee that all key workers get the PPE they need in order to protect themselves and their patients from COVID-19.
Why is this important?
The whole of the Country are behind our health and social care workers and we believe that the front line staff should have access to adequate PPE to perform their roles with the highest level of protection.

Open Letter To Food Suppliers Adopting Special Opening Times For The Elderley
To Managers Worldwide. (And in particular of FOOD outlets adopting the SPECIAL OPENING TIMES FOR ELDERLY AND VULNERABLE)
Please support the chain of command from head office and try your best to help ensure that they state clearly that ANYBODY who either has had symptoms in the last 5 days or been in contact with anybody showing symptoms…STAYS HOME.
Yes, precautions are important (Glass barriers, disinfectant, masks) But sadly, from my personal experience over the last couple of days, the challenge is to reach some people who may not be up-to-speed with what is going on. And TELLING THEM not to go to work for the sake of the community and all humanity, stay home.
This message MUST come with reassurances that SICK pay is without question. And their decision to stay home is fully supported.
Yours sincerely,
